Those in mental distress can now contact their local TEWV crisis service using the new single point of access telephone number 0300 0200317. This will replace individual contact numbers for crisis services in County Durham, Darlington, Teesside and North Yorkshire and York.

People with learning disabilities and/or autism can also contact crisis services using this number.

IAPT north yorkshire.  Improving access to psychological therapies

For patients that are struggling with stress, anxiety, depression, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) and phobias.

You can refer yourself directly to a psychological therapies service (IAPT) without seeing your GP, either using the online referral form or by phoning 01423 852137.

 Just B.  Bereavement support

Just B counselling have launched a 'Hear to Help' line available to anyone, 8am-8pm, seven days a week and will be staffed by specialist support workers.

Recovery college online

They have free online courses available, including 'Coping with a Mental Health Crisis' which offers ways to help yourself or someone else in the short or longer term.

NHS tees, esk and wear valleys.  NHS foundation trust

MBCT is a group-based programme that combines mindfulness meditation and cognitive behavioural therapy; it has a robust evidence base. They usually run face-to-face courses of MBCT but because of the Covid-19 situation, they are now providing ‘live’ (interactive) online courses instead.

The courses are for people aged 18+ who experience repeated episodes of depression or who are stressed by parenting or caring for someone with mental health problems.

The Every Mind Matters platform now incorporates the new Covid-19 mental health guidance and provides content to help people look after their mental and physical health while staying at home.


The Samaritans can be called 24hrs, 365 days a year. They are available to listen for anyone who's struggling to cope and who needs someone to listen without judgement or pressure. Call them free on 116 123
